Japan-U.S. Friendship Anniversary Event
Santa Anita Week

The 6th Oi Racecourse Meeting (July 20-24) will feature Santa Anita Week, an event celebrating the 31st anniversary of TCK’s sister-track relationship with Santa Anita Park in the United States.

During the Week, special programs will take place, including an exclusive exhibition acknowledging Forever Young’s victory in the Breeders’ Cup (BC) Classic (G1), the world’s premier dirt race; a JRA jockeys talk show with speakers who have close ties with TCK—trainer Yoshito Yahagi, jockey Keita Tosaki, and jockey Ryusei Sakai; and the SANTA ANITA Raffle for a chance to win premium prizes.

Visitors can also enjoy authentic American cuisine and the Mint Julep, the official cocktail of the Kentucky Derby (G1), while shopping for horse racing merchandise and other goods from the United States. Adorned with the festive Santa Anita Week decorations, Oi Racecourse will be transformed into an immersive American-themed destination for five days.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the excitement at Oi Racecourse!

[TCK’s Friendship with Santa Anita Park]
Tokyo City Keiba (TCK) established a sister-track relationship with Santa Anita Park in California, United States in 1995. Since then, Oi Racecourse has run the Santa Anita Trophy (SIII) while Santa Anita Park has hosted the Tokyo City Cup (L) as exchange races, fostering interactions among horses and racing personnel and contributing to the development of horse racing by inspiring each other in race programming and customer services.

Since 2019, up to two entry slots have been granted to TCK-registered horses to compete in the Santa Anita Derby (G1), an important prep race for the North American Classics. In 2023, Mandarin Hero, with the travel support from TCK, ran a strong second-place finish in the race and went on to compete in the Kentucky Derby (G1). In 2026, the travel support program was expanded to include the Santa Anita Handicap (G1), the pinnacle race for older horses.

Going forward, TCK will continue to deepen its friendship with Santa Anita Park and share the excitement of TCK and horse racing with fans in both Japan and the United States.
